Colography Group forecasts strong year for transport
The Colography Group Inc., a research and forecasting company for the transportation industry, said today its projections indicate 2006 will be a strong year for the ground transportation companies and international airfreight shipments.
Ground parcel shipments will increase 5.1 percent and less-than-truckload moves will increase 3.8 percent over 2005 volumes, the company said. U.S. air exports will increase 7.3 percent, although domestic air freight will gain only 1.2 percent, the report predicted.
It will also be a good year for air forwarders.
'In a trend not seen for several years, non-integrated air carriers (forwarders, combination airlines and other intermediaries) will grow their domestic air shipments at a faster clip than their integrated carrier rivals. In addition, the non-integrated carriers will gain domestic and export shipment share in 2006, albeit slightly,' Colography said.
