Plans advance for new bulk distribution center at Port of Tampa

Trammell Crow Co. and ING Clarion Partners said Friday they are moving forward with plans for a second bulk distribution center in their joint venture Port Ybor project at the gateway to the Port of Tampa.

TCC will break ground in January on a new 156,000-square-foot warehouse, scheduled for completion in August 2006. The warehouse will have cross-dock loading capabilities and space that's divisible down to 30,000 square feet, said Bob Abberger, managing director, Florida development services.

Port Ybor is a mixed-use industrial park being developed on 33 acres in the Port of Tampa by a partnership between TCC and ING Clarion Partners designed to bring new business opportunities to the port.

The Port Ybor expansion follows completion of a deal worked out by TCC to lease the site's entire first 281,600-square-foot building to the U.S. Postal Service as a logistics and distribution center, bringing more than 150 new jobs to the district.

When fully built out, Port Ybor will have 532,000 square feet of industrial bulk warehousing and distribution space and 32,000 square feet of offices.
