RITE AID PICKS LOGISTICS.COM TO OVERSEE SHIPMENTS

Rite Aid, a major drugstore chain, has asked Logistics.com, a provider of transportation procurement services, to manage more than half of Rite Aid’s ground transportation contracts.

Accenture, a business consultancy, advised Rite Aid in the choice of provider.

Rite Aid will use Logistics.com’s OptiBid Network to automate procurement of truckload, less-than-truckload, and intermodal inbound shipments. The provider will also handle that part of Rite Aid’s outbound transportation which hasn’t been given to private fleets.

Rite Aid, with 3,600 drugstores in 29 states, has annual revenues of more than $14 billion. Logistics.com is based in Burlington, Mass.
