Eurinpro leases second Willebroek warehouse
European warehouse developer Eurinpro International has leased its second warehouse in Willebroek, Belgium to Mercure International of Monaco (MIM), an international distributor of sports equipment.
The warehouse is situated in the 324,000-square-foot Astrid Logistics Center, next to the A12 motorway connecting Brussels and Antwerp. The first unit, opened in March, is being used by TNT Logistics Belgium, who were said to be interested in occupying the second warehouse as well.
Instead, MIM uses the warehouse to distribute a broad range of sporting equipment throughout Africa.
“Initially we opted for this site to develop for TNT Logistics a tailor-made warehouse that has been built and is occupied. Although we do not build on risk and only develop to the specific requirements of our customers, we could not deny the site’s strategic value. That is why we decided to build a second warehouse unit before reaching a formal agreement with a customer,” said Yves Boonen, country manager of Eurinpro Belgium.
In recent months, Eurinpro has developed facilities in the Willebroek region for Schenker, NYK Logistics, JVC and Stanley; and is in the process of erecting a logistics center for DHL Exel Supply Chain.
Last month, Macquarie Goodman, one of the world’s largest industrial property investment groups and part of the Macquarie Bank group of companies, bought Eurinpro for A$597 million ($441 million).
