U.S. TO PERMIT ENCRPYTION EXPORTS TO EU COUNTRIES, 8 OTHER NATIONS
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Export Administration will publish a final rule today permitting most encryption products to be exported to the 15 nations of the European Union, and also to Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.
The action implements policy updates announced by the Clinton Administration on July 17, and tracks recent guidelines set by the European Union.
Restrictions on exports to terrorist-supporting nations, their nationals and other sanctioned entities are not changed by the new rules.
