NDC buys 3PL in West Sacramento

Third party warehouse operator National Distribution Centers said Monday it has purchased the assets of Crum and Crum, a third-party logistics provider headquartered in West Sacramento, Calif.

The acquisition will add almost one million square feet to NDC's existing 14 million square feet in two cities, West Sacramento and Hebron, Ky., a suburb of Cincinnati.

'This acquisition allows us to further strengthen our position in Northern California and opens up a new market for us in Kentucky,' said NDC President David Carpenter, in a statement.

The acquisition is the fifth over the last five years by the NDC's parent, the NFI group of companies, which includes both warehousing and transportation related entities.

'We are focused on continuing to find opportunities that fit into the strategy of making NFI and its affiliated companies one of the strongest combined asset and non-asset logistics companies in the country for providing integrated solutions,' said Sidney Brown, chief executive officer of NFI.
