Northwest matches fuel surcharges
Northwest Airlines Cargo is the latest airline to increase fuel surcharges due to high fuel prices.
Northwest’s cargo division said fuel surcharges will increase 5 cents to 30 cents per kilogram, effective Oct. 1, for international shipments originating in the United States, while surcharges will be adjusted to local exchange rates for shipments from other countries.
Domestic shipments will incur a surcharge of 11 cents per pound compared with the current charge of 9 cents per pound
Air France, Cargolux, KLM, Polar Air and Lufthansa have all recently raised surcharges.
