New highway expected to support more Sino-Soviet trade
Russia opened a new stretch of highway in the Far East that will make it possible for the first time to drive all the way across the country from the European border to Asia, the Associated Press reported.
Russian officials hope the 6,214-mile connection between Moscow and Vladivostok on the Sea of Japan opens up trade with China. The final section of the highway was completed after decades of incremental construction through the most remote and inhospitable part of the country.
