CHINA SHIPPING AND PORT OF LOS ANGELES SIGN ENVIRONMENTAL AGREEMENT





   China Shipping Group and the Port of Los Angeles have signed a letter of intent to minimize air pollution in the port.

   Li Kelin, president of China Shipping Group, and Nicholas Tonsich, president of the board of harbor commissioners of Los Angeles, put their signatures on the “Letter of Intent for Vessel Emission Reduction in Los Angeles.”

   China Shipping said that it is one of the first ocean carriers operating from the U.S. West Coast port to sign such a letter. It has promised to use “environmentally friendly diesel oil” when its ships are in port, to minimize air pollution.

   China Shipping Group is also developing a new container terminal in the port of Los Angeles.
