Box volume up 11% at Savannah
The port of Savannah, Ga. handled 390,936 TEUs in July-September, 11 percent more than in the same period of last year.
Doug Marchand, executive director at the Georgia Ports Authority, which manages Savannah, said that the authority has exceeded its projections for the July-September quarter of fiscal year 2004.
Marchand added that last year’s volumes were being surpassed. “Last year the port of Savannah experienced more than 30 percent growth in TEUs,” he said.
