MOL PROMOTES SUZUKI TO PRESIDENT
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has promoted Kunio Suzuki to the position of group president, replacing Masaharu Ikuta.
Susuzi was previously executive vice president.
Ikuta has been named chairman of the board. The former chairman, Noriaki Hori, will stay on the board as an executive director.
The position of president is traditionally the most senior executive position for Japanese shipping companies.
Kunio Suzuki, 60, began his career at Osaka Shosen Kaisha (O.S.K. Line) after leaving Waseda University in 1962. During his 38-year career in the maritime industry, he worked at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ New York Branch from
1975 to 1979. He became of director of MOL in 1991, was promoted to managing director in 1994, senior managing director in 1995 and executive vice president in 1998.
