CELARIX SIGNS SHARP ELECTRONICS
Celarix, a Boston-based provider of online logistics solutions, has signed a contract with Sharp Electronics Corp. to provide the retailer with Web-based software to manage inbound domestic and international product movements.
Sharp will use Celarix's Visibility suite to integrate its internal IT systems with those of its transportation service providers to track inbound shipments from the port of origin through U.S. distribution centers. Andersen Consulting will manage the system integration project, which is slated for completion by the end of this year.
Sharp logistics managers will be able to view real-time status of all inbound supplier shipments, from purchase order to delivery, Celarix said.
“We considered building an application in-house before seeing what Celarix had to offer, but found through due diligence that Celarix could implement the solution we needed at a significantly lower cost in one quarter of the time,” said James O’Connor, vice president of logistics for Sharp.
