WITASS hikes congestion surcharge in Trinidad, cancels it in Venezuela
The London-based Association of West India Trans-Atlantic Steam Ship Lines (WITASS) said today it will increase its congestion surcharge for westbound and eastbound calls at the Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Effective from Sept. 1, the U.S.-denominated surcharge will be $66 (from $44) for 20-foot containers and $132 (from $88) for 40-foot containers.
WITASS has also withdrawn a congestion surcharge for the port of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, saying “the port has returned to normal working conditions.”
