Fire on Hanjin ship
Senator Lines said Thursday the Hanjin Shipping-operated vessel “Punjab Senator” suffered a fire in hold No.6 on its voyage from Singapore to Colombo.
The 4,545-TEU “Punjab Senator” is registered in Germany and is deployed on Hanjin’s weekly U.S. West Coast/Asia/Indian Subcontinent/Europe/Asia/U.S. West Coast “PDS” service. Senator Lines takes space on the service to all ports except those in the United States. COSCO, “K” Line, and United Arab Shipping Co. all take space on various legs of the “PDS” service.
Senator Lines said the vessel arrived in Colombo on schedule and an investigation of the damage is being undertaken. A delay to the ships schedule is possible, Senator Lines said.
The question of a declaration of General Average is open for the time being, Senator Lines said in a statement.
