BA CARGO REPORTS 3.2% RISE IN ANNUAL REVENUE
British Airways World Cargo reported a 3.2 percent increase in sales of '556 million ($818 million) for its fiscal year ending March 31.
Worldwide freight, mail and courier traffic rose 4.9 per cent to 897,000 metric tons. A strong first three months this year gave BA World Cargo a needed boost. Cargo sales improved 5.5 percent year-over-year in BA's final fiscal quarter to '134 million. Volume was up 8.7 percent at 224,000 metric tons.
“These results are excellent when set against the enormous level of change that has taken place in our business over the last 12 months and industry factors such as a difficult economic climate, pressure of yields and over capacity, especially on North Atlantic routes,” said Gareth Kirkwood, BA's new managing director of cargo. “I look to the future with confidence.”
