The Rome, Ga.-based freight broker’s purchase of Apex Freight Services will allow Scott Logistics to expand its market presence and contribute $20 million in additional annual revenues, according to a statement from the company.
Rome, Ga.-based freight brokerage Scott Logistics Corp. has acquired Apex Freight Services, the company said in a statement yesterday.
The purchase of Apex, a freight broker headquartered in Lafayette, La., will allow Scott Logistics to expand its market presence and contribute $20 million in additional annual revenues. With Apex in the fold, Scott will now operate out of eight branches across the United States and expects to approach $150 million in sales annually.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Scott Logistics President Jay Matthews said the Apex acquisition is part of an overall strategic plan to grow market share in the U.S.
“They already have a great customer base which is now combined with our resources,” said Matthews. “This acquisition is a win for our business, but also our customers.”
“Our continued growth with new branches and acquisitions insures we will continue to provide that great customer service that sets us apart,” added Scott Logistics Owner Diane Manis.
Scott said Tracy Pellerin, Apex’s previous owner, will remain with the firm as branch manager in Lafayette along with his team of account managers, load coordinators and sales associates.
“We are excited to be a part of the Scott Logistics network,” Pellerin said of the deal. “It is a great situation for us to continue servicing our customers under the umbrella of Scott Logistics. Scott is well known throughout the industry for its customer service and its consistent and steady growth through tough economic times.”
