Environmental assessment of Chinese dwarfed plant imports issued

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has released its environmental assessment to allow certain imports of Chinese dwarfed plants into the country.

The APHIS report said measures are necessary to prevent the spread of plant pests and noxious weeds in the United States.

The agency will take comments on the environmental assessment through Oct. 15. To view the report, “Final Rule for the Importation of Artificially Dwarfed Plants in Growing Media from the People’s Republic of China,” online, click on: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ppd/es/ppqdocs.html.
