APS names Skillman, Thomas to senior posts
APS Technology Group has appointed Scott Skillman to chief financial officer, in charge of the firm's financials, forecasts and legal dealings.
Prior to joining APS, Skillman was chief executive officer of TranSkill, president of Embarcadero Systems, and chief information officer for Crowley Marine Corp.
APS also promoted Allen Thomas from vice president of operations to chief operations officer. He will be responsible for the management of day-to-day operations, sales and marketing, and project delivery.
Thomas has 13 years of international supply chain experience in operations and business development, with a focus on IT and automation systems for marine and intermodal terminals. He has been with APS for six years. Previously he was IT project manager at Sea-Land Service.
San Diego-based APS has installed its optical character recognition technology at more than 700 terminal gates and automation technology systems at 35 marine and intermodal terminals in 10 countries. Companies that have recently implemented or purchased APS automation systems include Yilport Container Terminal, Virginia International Terminals, APM Terminals Nigeria, and Port of Houston Authority.
