CMA CGM, China Shipping extend Africa service to China

   CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Line are extending their current Southeast Asia/West Africa “WAX” service to include direct calls in China.

   The revised “WAX II” service, beginning end September, will employ seven ships averaging 1,700 TEUs. Four are being provided by CMA CGM and three by China Shipping.

   An initial 10-day frequency service will grow gradually to become a weekly one with 10 ships, said CMA CGM.

   The Wax II port sequence is Shanghai, Fuzhou, Chiwan, Port Kelang, Lagos, Tema, Cotonou, Lome, Abidjan, Colombo, Port Kelang, and Shanghai.

   CMA CGM and China Shipping have been operating their existing WAX service in partnership with Gold Star Line.
