U.S. salvage group sets industry safety standards
The American Salvage Association has created a set of safety standards for its members to accompany existing international salvage safety practices.
The objective of the standards is to ensure safety at sea, prevent human injury and loss of life, avoid damages to the environment and preserve property, the Arlington, Va.-based group said.
The ASA Salvage Safety Standards cover site safety and health plans, daily briefings and reporting, vessel equipment inspections, subcontractors, salvage master’s logs, and roles and responsibilities of salvage teams.
The ASA’s members include American Marine Corp., Bisso Marine Co., Crowley Marine Services, Donjon Marine Co., Marine Pollution Control, Ocean Group, Parker Diving Service, Resolve Marine Group, SMIT Salvage Americas, T&T Marine Salvage, Titan Maritime, and Weeks Marine.
