CSX LINES SEES UPTURN IN WEB BOOKINGS
CSX Lines, an ocean carrier operating domestic container service between the 48 contiguous states and Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico, has released 2001 totals of customers using its NetCaptain eBusiness Platform.
Web bookings online increased in 2001 from 15 percent to 55 percent of all customer bookings.
The carrier said that all its vessel load-list reports have been Web-enabled and removed from CSX Lines’ Dallas service center. Customers are now accessing that data directly from shipstat reports.
Track-and-trace activity, including shipstats, container history, wireless and container searches via the Web, grew 400 percent in 2001.
The number of shippers logging into NetCaptain increased from 3,000 a week in 2000 to 8,000 a week in 2001.
Horizon Services Group, based in Dallas, a wholly owned subsidiary of CSX Lines, developed the NetCaptain e-business platform, a suite of ocean shipping management systems. CSX Lines, based in Charlotte, N.C., is part of CSX Corp.
