FedEx to raise U.S. shipping rates

FedEx Express, Ground, Home Delivery, and Freight rates in the United States will each increase by an average of 4.9 percent, effective Jan. 4, 2016, according to a statement from the company.

FedEx Corp. will increase shipping rates in the United States for its Express, Ground, Home Delivery, and Freight units by an average of 4.9 percent each, effective Jan. 4, 2016.
The company said in a statement the rate increase at FedEx Freight will also apply to shipments to and from, as well as within, both Canada and Mexico.
FedEx said it will also raise surcharges at FedEx Ground for “unauthorized packages,” shipments that exceed the published maximum dimensions, and certain fuel surcharge tables at FedEx Express and FedEx Ground, effective Nov. 2, 2015.
“The changes related to fuel and unauthorized surcharges are in response to changing industry demand dynamics, including increases in average package size and weight and increased residential deliveries,” the company said, adding that further details regarding these changes will be made available by Sept. 23, 2015.
