Damco opens second Cambodian facility

Damco, the logistics services arm of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has opened a 16,000-square-meter warehouse in Cambodia, adding to its first facility in the Southeast Asian country which opened in August 2011.
The development marks Damco’s continued interest in this emerging market.
From the new facility, Damco will provide customers with inventory management, radio-frequency scanning, order processing, vendor and carrier management, and inventory management. Cross border and inland trucking will also be offered from the facility. Officials anticipate a large amount of manufacturing traffic, especially in the garment industry.
Damco’s Andy Lim said infrastructure bottlenecks on ocean, road and rail networks are often among the challenges faced when entering a new market.
“Here in Cambodia, the strong support from the government and local authorities gives us the confidence that this market will continue to develop positively and will be one of the most competitive markets in the region, for many years to come,” Lim said in a statement. – Jon Ross
