“K” LINE, YANG MING STRENGTHEN TIES WITH PIL IN ASIA/MIDDLE EAST/INDIAN SUB TRADE

   Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha and Yang Ming are about to start taking slots from Singapore-based Pacific International Lines on its weekly Asia/Middle East/Indian Subcontinent MEX service. Also, on a separate PIL service in the same trade, “K” Line is about to start deploying its own vessel on the China Gulf Express service. Previously, “K” Line was just a slot charter partner on the CGX service.

   The slot charter arrangement on the MEX service will commence on June 20 when the “Kota Wirawan” departs from Port Rashid, Dubai. The MEX service uses seven PIL ships and calls at Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Port Rashid, Dammam, Karachi, Port Kelang, Singapore, Pasir Gudang, Laem Chabang, Hong Kong, Shekou and Shanghai.

   The CGX service has added calls at Keelung and Ishigaki Island as well as introducing the new “K” Line vessel. The service uses six vessels and calls at Shanghai, Ningbo, Ishigaki Island, Keelung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Port Rashid, Bandar Abbas, Karachi, Penang, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai. Malaysia International Shipping Corp., Norasia Container Lines and Yang Ming all take space on the CGX service.
