CONTERM STARTS DIRECT ATLANTA/BRAZIL SERVICE
Conterm Consolidation Services, a neutral non-vessel-operating common carrier subsidiary of NACA Logistics Group, has started direct less-than-containerload service from Atlanta to Santos, Brazil.
Transit time from Atlanta to Santos is about 21 days. At origin and destination, cargo is handled by Conterm’s sister company, Vanguard Logistics Services. Vanguard has offices in Santos, Sao Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.
“With a direct service from the Atlanta market, and affiliated handling services provided by one company, we’re better able to ensure that the cargo moves safely and arrives without complication,” said Brian Langworthy, southeastern regional sales manager for Conterm.
Conterm started direct service from Atlanta in 1998. Today, the program includes 22 direct weekly sailings, especially to Europe and Asia.
“One of the advantages of our direct sailing program is that we offer the same cutoff day for our four container freight stations in the region. Our daily trucking service from Charleston, Charlotte, and Memphis shuttles cargo in very quickly to Atlanta,” Langworthy said. “Since our containers to many of the top destinations are loaded and sealed in Atlanta, we’re able to save our customers anywhere from two to five days on the transit time, depending on the service.”
