GRI Roundup: CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

The French ocean carrier CMA CGM and the German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd announced general rate increases on various trades.

   Ocean carriers CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases on several trade routes.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
   *All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo. Rates will increase Dec. 15 by $100 per TEU and again on Jan. 7 by $150 per TEU.
   *All Asian ports to Pakistan, the West Coast of India and Sri Lanka for all cargo. Rates will increase Dec. 15 by $50 per unit and again on Jan. 7 by $50 per unit.
   *All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to the Comoros for all cargo effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU.
   *All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia) for all cargo effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,200 per TEU.
   *The Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa on all cargo effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,200 per TEU and 1,100 euros per TEU to Syria. 
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
   *North and South China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and all container types. Rates will increase Dec. 15 by $100 per TEU and again on Jan. 7 by $150 per TEU.
   *East Asia to Canada East Coast port locations (Halifax) and Canada RIPI inland locations via Halifax and all-water Montreal for all dry cargo, reefer cargo, non-operative reefer cargo, flat rack cargo and open-top containers effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,440 per TEU standard container, $1,600 per FEU standard container, $1,800 per 40-foot high cube container and $2,025 per 45-foot container.
   *East Asia to Canada West Coast port locations (Vancouver) and Canada IPI inland locations via Vancouver and British Columbia Province for all dry cargo, reefer cargo, non-operative reefer cargo, flat rack cargo and open-top containers effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,080 per TEU standard container, $1,200 per forty-foot (FEU) standard container, $1,350 per 40-foot high cube container and $1,520 per 45-foot container.
   *East Asia to the U.S. East Coast port locations and U.S. RIPI inland locations via the US. East Coast for all dry cargo, reefer cargo, flat rack cargo and open top containers effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,440 per TEU standard container, $1,600 per FEU standard container, $1,800 per 40-foot high cube container and $2,025 per 45-foot container.
   *East Asia to the U.S. West Coast port locations and U.S. IPI inland locations via the US. West Coast for all dry cargo, reefer cargo, flat rack cargo and open top containers effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,080 per TEU standard container, $1,200 per FEU standard container, $1,350 per 40-foot high cube container and $1,520 per 45-foot container.
