EXPEDITORS SETTLES CHARGES WITH BXA FOR ILLEGAL EXPORTS

   Seattle-based freight forwarder and customs broker Expeditors    International has settled a $5,000 civil penalty with the U.S. Commerce    Department’s Bureau of Export Administration for allegedly arranging an illegal export shipment.

   In 1995, Expeditors’ San Francisco office moved a shipment of    semiconductor test equipment from the United States to Taiwan. The cargo was destined to Realtek Semiconductor Co. Ltd. of Taipei, a company on    Commerce’s Denied Party list.
