EXEL AMEY, ISOTRAK BEGIN ôRAILTIMEö TESTING
Exel, Amey and Isotrak said Wednesday that trials are commencing this month for RailTime, their real-time information management service for the rail industry.
In the tests, conducted with Wales & Borders Trains and Angel Trains, hardware is placed on each train in the fleet. Data is then taken from each unit on a real-time basis, and transmitted electronically, via a wireless network, to a hub, manned by dedicated RailTime operatives. There the data is analyzed, interpreted and disseminated to the operations team on a real-time basis.
The system's goal is to help companies respond to efficiency, safety, utilization and customer service issues increasingly confronting the rail industry.
