SHIPPING COORDINATION PANEL TO MEET JAN. 14-15
Shipping Coordinating Committee, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, will meet twice during January in Washington, D.C., to prepare for upcoming sessions of component panels of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
On Jan. 14, the coordinating committee will meet to prepare for the 30th session of the IMO’s Facilitation Committee. Items on the agenda include electronic means for clearing ships, preventing acts of terrorism against vessels, and treatment of people rescued at sea.
On Jan. 15, the committee will meet to prepare for the 34th session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Standards of Training and Watchkeeping. Items on that agenda include enhanced maritime security, forged certificates, and the safety of large passenger vessels.
