WITASS to introduce westbound peak season surcharge
Ocean carriers in the Association of West India Trans-Atlantic Steam Ship Lines (WITASS) will introduce a peak season surcharge for all westbound shipments from Oct. 1 through to Dec. 31.
The surcharge will be 125 euros ($153) per 20-foot box and 175 euros ($214) per 40-foot container.
“A period of very high demand is predicted in the westbound trade during the last quarter of the year, which will give rise to higher operational costs than are usual,” WITASS said in a statement.
Members of WITASS are CMA CGM, Compania Sud-Americana de Vapores, Hamburg-Sud, and Hapag-Lloyd.
