Cargo 2000 names Moehle program director
Cargo 2000, the airline and freight forwarder group, has named Lother Moehle program director.
Moehle, a 30-year veteran of freight transportation and logistics, has worked for road transport, freight forwarding and integrated carrier organizations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Most recently, he headed Schenker AG's department responsible for managing relationships with overseas partners and served as Schenker's representative to Cargo 2000.
He will be based in Germany and will work closely with Ron Cesana, Cargo 2000's project director.
Cargo 2000, an interest group of the International Air Transport Association, is working on a three-phase implementation of a new quality management system for the air cargo industry. The first phase, measuring airport-to-airport movements at the master waybill level, is ready and in operator. Phase two, door-to-door movements at house air waybill level, is also under way and Cargo 2000 expects to be measuring 500,000 house air waybills a month by June 2004. Final specifications are being agreed upon for the third phase, concentrating on measuring freight movements at piece level.
