STATE DEPARTMENT GROUP TO HOLD MEETING DEC. 13 ON UNCITRAL CONVENTION

   The Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law’s study group said a public meeting will be held Dec. 13, to consider the draft of an international uniform cargo regime being prepared by a Working Group of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

   The meeting will be held 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Holland & Knight, Suite 100, 2099 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington.

   The purpose of the study group is to assist the departments of State and Transportation in preparing for the UNCITRAL Working Group’s next session, to be held in New York from March 24 to April 4, 2003.

   The session was called by Mary Helen Carlson, deputy assistant legal adviser for private international law in the Department of State, and Edmund T. Sommer Jr., chief, division of general law, international law and litigation, office of the chief counsel in the Maritime Administration.
