Battista, Exel executive, dies at 57
Ken Battista, senior vice president of business development for Exel, a U.K.-based logistics services provider, died May 12 in Miami Beach.
Battista, 57, was caught in a rip tide and drowned while taking an early morning swim before a business conference.
A 34-year industry veteran, Battista worked for Procter & Gamble before becoming acting president of Power Logistics in 2000. Exel acquired Power Logistics in October 2002. At Exel, Battista had executive responsibility for accounts that included Kraft, Hershey Foods, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Hormel and Kimberly-Clark.
A memorial service was held Tuesday in Naperville, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Mariana Battista Educational Fund, c/o Oxford Bank, 1260 Book Road, Naperville, Ill., 60540.
