FCS prepares for Air AMS filing service
Flagship Customs Services has obtained certification from the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection to become a service center for the electronic transmission of air cargo manifests to the agency.
The certification allows FCS to transmit these manifests on behalf of airlines, freight forwarders and deconsolidators.
The Silver Spring, Md.-based systems developer is already the country’s largest Internet-based service center for ocean freight manifest filers in Customs’ Automated Manifest System. More than 200 non-vessel-operating common carriers and vessel operators use FCS’ Internet-based Import2000 service.
FCS officials said the Air AMS certification allows it to bring Import2000 into full compliance with existing and future agency manifest regulations mandated by the 2002 Trade Act.
