DOT CLOSES INDIANA TRUCKING FIRM
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has shut down Russman Transportation, based in Jeffersonville, Ind., saying that Russman allowed its drivers to falsify their logbooks.
Clyde J. Hart, the FMCSA’s acting deputy administrator, said the “strict enforcement action” was necessary because Russman’s violations posed an “immediate” hazard to public safety.
The FMCSA issued an Operations Out-of-Service Order (OOSO) to Nahum Matsa, owner of Russman Transportation, because drivers exceeded the maximum number of operating hours allowed and “falsified their logs in order to avoid recording their true hours of operation,” a DOT statement noted.
