BMW taps K + N for spare parts services

The third-party logistics company will manage spare parts logistics services on behalf of the German automobile and motorcycle manufacturing company.

   Kuehne + Nagel and the BMW Group reached an agreement in which the third-party logistics provider will manage spare parts logistics services on behalf of the German automobile and motorcycle manufacturing company.
   Kuehne + Nagel will support BMW with the implementation of a new structure for its spare parts logistics at the Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Bavaria, Germany, where BMW provides parts to its regional distribution centers throughout the world, the Schindellegi, Switzerland-based company said in a statement.
   Effective Nov. 1, the third-party logistics provider will gradually take over operations at three CDC locations in lower Bavaria.
   Goods receiving activities and the control and packing of spare parts are included in the scope of service. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for storage, commissioning and outgoing goods.
