SeaSecure completes security program for ports in Florida
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based SeaSecure LLC has completed a maritime security risk assessment for all of Florida’s strategic port facilities, the Florida Ports Council said.
SeaSecure was selected to create a maritime security program that would ensure that each of Florida’s 14 deepwater ports developed physical, personnel, and information security programs that would comply with regulatory requirements and defend against terrorism and crime.
John R. LaCapra, president of both the Florida Ports Council and the Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development Council, said SeaSecure’s “experience in security programs, advice, and counsel in the development of relations between seaport management and law enforcement, and (its) promulgation of a risk assessment package for Florida’s seaports has provided a foundation for Florida to build a statewide systemic approach to seaport security.”
SeaSecure will continue to work with the Florida Ports Council on the assessment and plans required by the International Ship and Port Facility Security code and the U.S. Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.
