APL ADDS EUROPE/CARIBBEAN/CENTRAL AMERICAN LINKS
APL has expanded its transatlantic container services to include new transshipment links between northern Europe, at one end, and ports in Central America, the Caribbean islands and the Caribbean coast of South America, at the other end.
The carrier, which already provides services connecting Caribbean and Latin American ports to ports in North America and Asia, will now use regional services in the Caribbean and Latin America to move European cargoes by transshipment. APL said it will transport Caribbean and Central America containers via a range of transshipment ports, including Colon, Panama, and Miami.
APL will use all three of its weekly transatlantic services for the transshipment connections. Those services call at Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam and Le Havre in Europe. In the Central America and Caribbean region, APL covers all major countries, including Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Dutch Antilles, Trinidad, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The carrier said the new northern Europe/Caribbean/Central America connections are “part of APL’s ongoing expansion program and significantly broadens the options we can offer our European and Central American customers.”
