VIRGIN ATLANTIC PLANS TWO TRANSATLANTIC SERVICES

Virgin Atlantic said it plans to add two new North Atlantic routes in the next year.

The airline said it will reinstate a fifth daily service between London and New York in October. The new service will provide a morning departure out of Heathrow to JFK International.

A second daily service between London and Washington, D.C. will be introduced in June 2003. The service will depart Heathrow in the afternoon to compliment Virgin Atlantic's existing morning service.

Both routes will be operated with Airbus A340s and will provide additional cargo capacity for the market, said John Lloyd, Virgin Atlantic's director of cargo.
