Netherlands, Flanders authorities agree to dredge Scheldt estuary
The port of Antwerp said Friday the Netherlands and Flanders governments signed a third memorandum of understanding in The Hague for dredging of the Scheldt estuary.
The Western Scheldt navigation channel is to be deepened so that ships with a draft of 13.10 meters (43 feet) can reach the port of Antwerp. Dredging is expected to commence by 2007, the port said.
