Guatemalan exporter group gets U.S. “trade capacity” grant

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has awarded a $403,855 grant to Guatemala’s Association of Exporters of Non-Traditional Products to help it meet the objectives of the U.S.-Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA).

The grant will help provide “trade capacity” assistance to develop digital certificates and training to disseminate information needed to enhance trade between Guatemala and the United States.

“The program responds to Guatemala’s needs to be able to compete effectively under the CAFTA and to provide the kind of quick access to information that international trading partners demand,” USTDA said.

“Once implemented, the program will train Guatemalans on trade and market intelligence issues, as well as provide technical tools related to the processing and handling of information related to Guatemala’s imports and exports,” the agency added.
