The State Department announced that it issued a presidential permit in November to the General Services Administration to start construction.
The State Department announced it has issued a presidential permit to the General Services Administration (GSA) to construct, operate and maintain a port of entry about two miles east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in California.
The newly authorized Otay Mesa East vehicular and pedestrian border crossing likely will consist of the following improvements and structures: inspection and X-ray facilities, containment areas and docks, commercial inspection building with import and export docks, export inspection, commercial cargo and passenger vehicle lanes, fiber optic cables, and “related improvements and infrastructure,” the permit says.
The permit, issued in November, will expire 10 years from the date of issuance.
