RLJ Cos. has purchased R. Thompson Trucking, a Virginia-based bulk materials and waste hauler, from Linx Capital Partners for an undisclosed amount, forming RLJ Trucking Cos.
R. Thompson’s main customers are aggregates companies, disposal companies and recycling firms. The trucking company’s president and chief executive officer, Rick Thompson, will stay on at the new firm along with the rest of his management staff.
“RLJ Thompson Trucking is the leading transportation company in the Mid-Atlantic,” RLJ Companies’ founder, Robert Johnson, said in a statement. “We are pleased to partner with a company that has earned a reputation as one of the safest and most reliable carriers in the region… My goal is to make RLJ Thompson the largest minority owned transportation company in the country.”
R. Thompson currently boasts a fleet of more than 150 tractors, 500 trailers and 100 dump trucks. – Jon Ross
