CHINA SHIPPING STARTS NEW TRANSPACIFIC SERVICE

   China Shipping Container Lines is starting another weekly transpacific service at the end of the month.

   The new “Asia America Central” is scheduled to make its first eastbound call on Oct. 26 when the “CSCL Barcelona” will depart from Busan. Westbound the same vessel is due to leave Los Angeles on Nov. 9.

   The “AAC” service will use five ships averaging 2,827 TEUs and will call Los Angeles, Ningbo, Shanghai, Hakata, Busan and back to Los Angeles.

   According to the global liner shipping database ComPairData (www.compairdata.com), the “AAC” will be China Shipping’s seventh weekly service in the transpacific and will add about 150,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity to the market.
