COSCO, Japan Freight Railway to start China/Japan express service
COSCO and Japan Freight Railway are launching a joint non-air express logistics service between China and Japan.
Under the arrangement, COSCO will transport mainly home electronics and clothing from Chinese factories to Moji, Nagoya and Tokyo in Japan. Goods will then be distributed by Japan Freight Railway to Fukuoka or Kanto cities in Japan. In the opposite direction, vehicles and electronic parts will be shipped from factories in Japan to China.
“The new service will cover more cities in Japan and the transit time is expected shorter than the conventional liner services, while the cost of the new service is cheaper than the airfreight cost,” COSCO said.
