Canadian transport minister leads delegation to China
Canada’s transport minister Jean-C. Lapierre will lead a delegation of more than 30 senior transportation executives during a week-long visit to China to promote Canada as a gateway for Chinese cargo to North America.
The delegation, comprising representatives from Canadian airports, passenger and cargo airlines, ports, railways and transportation-related associations, will visit Chinese transport officials in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong Sept. 1-7. Also participating in the mission will be Kevin Falcon, British Columbia’s Minister of Transportation, as well as officials from the governments of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
“This mission is an excellent opportunity to promote Canada as a gateway to North America, discuss our approaches to air, marine and intermodal transportation, and encourage bilateral exchanges between our two countries,” Lapierre said. “It will also provide Canadian businesses with the chance to strengthen commercial ties with their Chinese counterparts.”
