Commerce secretary to lead trade trip to Japan, Korea

The trip will focus on U.S. export opportunities for both the healthcare and energy sectors in these two countries.

Pritzker

U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker said she will lead 20 U.S. companies on a business development trip to Japan and South Korea later this month.
The trip will have a particular focus on export opportunities for both the healthcare and energy sectors to these two countries.
Some of the companies participating in the trip are Abbott, Cargill, Dow Chemical, Eli Lilly, Merck, Principle Power, and Varian Medical Systems.
As our fourth- and sixth-largest trading partners, respectively, Japan and South Korea are making significant investments in both health care and energy, the Commerce Department said. Japan has a $153 billion market for medical and health products and South Korea’s total market for drugs and medical device products combined is roughly $21 billion.
Stops during the trip will be made in Tokyo and Seoul.
