FIATA AND CUSTOMS WILL DISCUSS RELATIONSHIP
The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations said that it will organize a forum at its annual world congress in Rotterdam on Sept. 25-29 to discuss the relationship between Customs and freight forwarders acting as customs agents.
“The interests of both the forwarding industry — the smooth flow of trade — and Customs — inspection — sometimes seem contradictory,” said a spokesman for the Netherlands Association of Forwarding and Logistics, a national member of the FIATA federation. But the two sides are dependent on each other and “the right balance between these parties is essential,” the spokesman added.
Forwarders, Customs brokers, the Dutch Customs and a representative of the World Customs Organization will attend the specialized discussion panel at the FIATA congress.
