CHINA SHIPPING SETS UP SEA/RAIL REEFER LINK

China Shipping Group has commenced a sea/rail reefer container service in China.

The first China Shipping scheduled reefer train, loaded with 40 containers, started on Wednesday (Dec. 28) from Dalian, in northern China. Nearly 800 tons of green vegetables produced in Hainan province were shipped by the train to Shenyang, Changchun and Harbin, located in the northern hinterland of the port of Dalian.

China Shipping Group has also established a sea connection from Hainan in southern China to Dalian, called Seaborne Green Channel, using full reefer containerships to carry vegetables produced in Hainan.

“To extend this channel to Northeast hinterlands, Dalian Port Authority, China Shipping Logistics Dalian and Shenyang Railway Bureau co-founded Dalian China Shipping Port-Rail Reefer Transportation Co., Ltd. to operate sea/rail combined transport of reefer containers,” China Shipping Group said.

The sea/rail link will also move reefer cargoes to Russia.
