CKYHE Alliance to launch new transpacific loop

South Korean ocean carrier Hanjin will operate all five of the 4,000-TEU vessels on the China America Express service, which is scheduled to commence in May.

Ocean carrier Hanjin will provide all of the vessels on the CKYHE Alliance’s new transpacific service, the China America Express (CAX), which is scheduled to commence operations in May, Hanjin said.
In addition to Hanjin, the CKYHE Alliance is comprised of COSCO, “K” Line, Yang Ming and Evergreen Line.
The CAX will launch May 24 with a rotation of Ningbo, Shanghai, Long Beach, Tokyo, Osaka and Ningbo. A total of five 4,000-TEU vessels will operate on the loop.
The CAX will offer 11-day transits from Shanghai to Long Beach, Hanjin said. According to BlueWater Reporting’s Region to Region Transit Analysis by Service tool, eight services currently offer direct connections from Shanghai to Long Beach, with Matson’s China/Long Beach express offering the fastest transit at nine days.
Overall, the alliance currently offers six services from Asia to the U.S. West Coast, according to BlueWater Reporting’s Capacity Report. These services include the PSX, YPN/NOWCO-3, PSW/CALCO-Y, NOWCO-A,  MD1/PM1 and the CEN/CALCO-Q.
